Year 6 - 7 Enrolment at Taylors Lakes Secondary College
Enrolment at Taylors Lakes Secondary College occurs in accordance with the Department of Education (DE&T) Placement Policy.
The enrolment strategy will reflect the Priority order of placement clause in the Placement Policy of the School Policy & Advisory Guide:
“Where there is insufficient accommodation at a school for all students who seek entry, students are enrolled in the following priority order:
1. Students for whom the school is the designated neighbourhood school.
2. Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time.
3. Where the regional director has restricted the enrolment, students who reside nearest the school.
4. Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds.
5. All other students in order of closeness of their home to the school.
6. In exceptional circumstances, compassionate grounds.”
DE&T also outlines its operational definitions for enrolment. A neighbourhood boundary shows the relationship between government schools and defines the geographic area / neighbourhood served by each school. The designated neighbourhood school is the government school that is nearest the student’s permanent residence, unless the Regional Director:
• needs to restrict new enrolments at a school due to pressure on enrolment capacity; and therefore
• has designated a neighbourhood zone for the school.

Designated neighbourhood zone is the geographic area served by a government school after the Regional Director has approved a change to the enrolment boundary due to pressure on enrolment capacity.

Victorian Government primary schools will issue the official Application for Enrolment forms to all students at the school they are attending.
The DE&T will notify schools of the timeline for the Transition program and all families at the Primary school will be contacted. Once you have received and completed those forms you must return them via the Primary School. This process generally commences around March/April each year. Enquiries should be directed to the Primary School at this stage.
Applications from children not at Government Primary or Catholic Primary schools (Independent School Application for Enrolment) should be forwarded directly to:

A lot of time is placed during this time into ensure the transition process is smooth for all new students. It is important to us that we work with primary schools to gather information that will assist us in appropriately organising resources and programs.
