Selecting a secondary school is an important decision for all families in ensuring that the chosen school will provide them a wide range of opportunities to enable them to experience success with a respectful, committed and safe learning community. The transition from primary to secondary school is a major step for many children. At Taylors Lakes Secondary College, we aim to develop self -confidence, to encourage our students take on challenges and to celebrate their successes.
The transition program assists this process and helps students feel welcome, valued and confident. Students in Year 7 have fewer room changes and their lockers are also situated in their homegroup room. Helping new students to confidently contribute in a range of social situations is considered important. Students are encouraged to participate in both curricular and co-curricular activities to build leadership skills, confidence and independence.
Students attend excursions and college camps and are encouraged to be involved in the College’s co-curricular activities including instrumental music, dance or drama productions, in student leadership forums or partake in the diverse sporting opportunities offered, including the College’s Soccer Academy.
Included is advice from DET that we encourage all families to read as their child moves from primary to secondary school. Taylors Lakes Secondary College often holds parent forums highlighting these and related issues.
